CTCC’s 2019 Project of the Year renews Cranberry’s library

Library Project of the Year
Enhancements to the library is the focus for the Community Chest 2019 Project of the Year, affecting both its traditional operations and expanding its arsenal of learning resources.

Over the past 20 years, technology has profoundly changed the way people search for information.  In response, public libraries around the country have evolved into multi-purpose community learning centers with programming and activities that extend well beyond their historically print-centered missions.

For CTCC’s 2019 project, Cranberry’s library will be outfitted with new capabilities as well as improvements to its existing facilities.
Foremost among the new capabilities will be the creation of a makerspace – essentially a small workshop outfitted with tools and work benches designed for collaboration and for making things in a hands-on learning environment.  Makerspaces are a fairly recent development.  Over the past few years, makerspace installations have exploded to include school classrooms, private subscription facilities, foundation supported shops, commercial prototyping studios, and public libraries.  Learn more and how you can donate!
